Learning about Navigation
1/21/2018
Students were treated to two great guest speakers (that also happen to be parents) this week on the topic of exploration. Our first guest speaker, Paul Fuhs spoke briefly to the students about navigation with a sexton and chronometer.
Our second speaker, Lorraine Borys taught an interactive lesson involving maps and secret codes. Students competed in small groups to complete a mission by decoding messages in cypher code and morse code. Students also learned about air navigation and used real airplane navigation charts (donated by Merrill Field) to chart a course to the mission’s destination. Students really enjoyed both presentations. Thanks again to the guest speakers! Comments are closed.
