All School Events in ART's Focus!
9/13/2018
Our year has started, and is gaining momentum! Students and teachers alike are enjoying the new, expanded spaces. PNA's Art Program with Brenda Jaeger has started on the foundations of classical art training. Our students know that whatever they do in life, they need to make their hopes and dreams reality. Art, the discipline of art, helps to make concepts, no matter how abstract, concrete and visible. We started out our year with the youngest students working on color theory, the color wheel, mixing hues, then tints, and shades. We are just into the value scale. The older students started with reviewing the self-portrait, and some have made the front and side views. Soon we will continue on. The first all-school show is coming up in the form of the Annual Harvest Festival. Our themes are pumpkins, leaves, farm animals, and scarecrows. The 8th Grade will be doing face painting for the Festival. They have practiced in art class. I would like to thank Rachel and Piper Botson for their help in matting, and hanging the upcoming all school art show for the Fall Festival Celebration. See you there! In the above photos we see the Early Kindergarten working on their pumpkins for the Fall Festival. We learned what happens when red and yellow are mixed to make orange, and what happens when blue and yellow are mixed to make green. We learned about adding white for a tint, a lighter color on the value scale. Now these pumpkins stand up, due to a tri-folded piece of cardboard attached to the back. In the calligraphy class ACE elective on Fridays, the students are being introduced to the art of calligraphy. In this lesson we are working with brushstroke technique, quality of line, arm movement, and the elements of design of line. We discussed contrast, complementary colors, and the use of space. In this elective class we have five Kindergarteners and two Second Grade students.
