Lights, Camera... ACTION!
2/9/2018
This week, the Fourth Grade, in cooperation with the Third Grade, turned our classrooms into real, honest-to-goodness television production studio. For all of next week (February 12 - 16), the two classes will write, produce and live broadcast a live news program each and every morning promptly at 8:30 AM. This is something that has never been done before at Pacific Northern Academy, and we're all a little nervous (in a good way)! The two classes have had numerous run-throughs this week in preparation, though, so we're well prepared. The video above shows a special, behind-the-scenes peek at what's been going on at the studio. Students were broken up into crews and then let loose to create their own segments, which included the Morning Show Hosts, the Breaking News Team, the Weather Watchers, the 'This Day In History' Crew and the Featured Interviews Crew. Each segment will feature a different aspect of what's going on at Pacific Northern Academy. If you'd like to watch live at 8:30 AM, please watch your email inbox this Sunday night or early Monday morning for a link to the show. Don't worry if you can't watch live, though, because each episode will be archived on the Fourth Grade and Third Grade YouTube channels. This week, we've collected three filmed rehearsals to show you the progress that we've made. We think that you'll be impressed by the level of progress that the students have made. And now, without further adieu... Monday (Our First) RehearsalOn Monday, February 5th, we had one of our first rehearsals. We were still trying to get a feel for exactly what we could and could not do, and had not added in a second camera yet. Wednesday RehearsalWe continued to rehearse through Wednesday, February 7th. In the video above, we've started to add (placeholder) graphics to introduce segments and we've begun to polish our performance. As you can see, the students are getting better! Friday (Our Final) RehearsalOn Friday, February 9th the students participated in their final rehearsal before going live on Monday. As you can see, the numerous run-throughs from the beginning of the week made all the difference! Students are far more polished and professional, and have a better feel for performing on camera. Great job, students! And Now For Something Completely Different...Hush Hush & On The QTThe Fourth Grade will be broadcasting the news live every morning this week (February 12 - 16) from 8:30 - 8:37 AM. The earlier your children are here, the better (8:00 would be best, if possible) Please make sure to have your child in on time, so they aren't left out! Next Wednesday is Valentine's Day! If you, or your child, would like to send a Valentine's Day card, candy or even a singing telegram, please see the students at PNA's Valentine's Day booth by the library to do so!
