Bear Buddies
1/18/2019
We had some new visitors in our class this week. As we begin our new topic of toys, bears have started to become part of our daily routine. The children were first invited to bring in a special bear from home. We looked closely at these toys, talking about the shapes they could see and the colors on their bear. The children then collected the resources they would need to draw and paint a portrait of their bear. They are now becoming independent enough to access the paints, choose the ones they need and mix the correct colors. Our language skills have been boosted by the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. We all now know the traditional tale and the cottage became part of our role play centre this week. Talk for writing actions will help us to retell the story next week and some of us have already thought about a new character instead of Goldilocks. Talking about ToysShowing growing speaking and listening skills, the children have enjoyed meeting with each other and showing their favorite toys, asking and answering questions . Robots have seemed to be popular so I'm sure we will be furthering our study to investigate them further. Maths in motionThrough listening to number stories, the class were very enthusiastic about exploring adding and taking away word problems. Maths was a clear focus for them this week as they independently chose to set up repeating patterns with the bear counters and also enjoyed inventing an addition target game with toy paper airplanes they had made.
